You have been thinking that you need to get your act together and go ahead and make a disaster plan, put together a disaster kit, and do some things to prepare your studio for emergencies but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. September is National Preparedness Month, so why put it off any longer? Here are 4 things to get you started:

  1. Preparedness events will be taking place across the country. Check to see if there is one in your area at this Ready.gov page.
  2. While you are there check out the information on building preparedness plans for your home and business and putting together an emergency kit.
  3. Check out the Safeguarding and Disaster Planning sections of www.StudioProtector.org. The site is full of practical emergency preparedness and recovery information for artists of all stripes.
  4. Take a step to protect your family and your A’s (Art, Assets, & Archives). Readiness is a series of small steps that get easier after you take your first one.

We have created a Facebook event page where you can let know what you’re doing to participate in National Preparedness Month and see what other have done. We’ll be posting suggestions, tip, and ideas all month.
