Asheville, NC – On Tuesday November 27, 2012, charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday™ is a national campaign to celebrate and encourage charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations at the start of the annual holiday season. HandMade in America invites and encourages our community to participate in this national day of giving by supporting WNC’s nonprofits.

Coinciding with this national emphasis on charitable donations, HandMade in America is currently in the middle of our Growing Economies Through Craft annual fund campaign (which will run through December 25th, 2012). We need the generous support of our community to continue lasting and effective initiatives that help build thriving communities in WNC; please celebrate #GivingTuesday on November 27, 2012 by making an investment in HandMade!

At HandMade in America (HIA) we are passionate about two things: handmade local crafts and making effective contributions to the economic vitality of WNC. Through what we call creative placemaking, we go into our region’s small towns to find unique assets we can use to spur revitalization, attract tourism, broaden markets, grow partnerships, and create job opportunities.  Trough our artist leadership and entrepreneurship programs we focus on offering business training to craft artists. In designing these programs, we keep abreast of current tools and trends—social media and Internet marketing, for example—and shifts in current market conditions that can give attendees a competitive edge in their businesses.

HIA acts as a guiding light, providing the tools and assistance to start organizing, build know-how and self-sufficiency, connect resources, and set foundations for long-lasting success. Our efforts have helped transform small towns and craft artists in WNC by animating places and sparking development; however, there is still a lot of work to be done.

HIA provides holistic and innovative solutions – when you support us, you are making a long-term investment to Western North Carolina. Please visit our online fundraising campaign to help make an impact!
